Walking Quietly

Rumi says, "Raise your words, not your voice. It is rain that grows flowers, not thunder".  Big, loud, explosive energy is likely to elicit some type of response.  Like making a big splash in water is likely to cause the water to ripple.  What happens when you walk quietly?

When we enter into an exchange of ideas quietly, with mindful intention, we have an opportunity to effect the people and the environment that surround us in a positive way.  Sometimes we can be most effective when we choose to say nothing, or simple nod and say "yes, I understand".

In order to teach our children peaceful ways, it is important to model a peaceful way for them.  Practice using a softer voice.  Try counting to 10 before you respond to any statement that has an emotional charge.  Use the words gratitude and joy often.  You may find that you will become calmer and more joyful.

Most of the worlds greatest peacemakers were not loud or violent.  They chose to walk quietly.

With peace and gratitude,

Judy
